I've having the same issues within iTunes and playing games (I get both stuttering in sound and video) while running Everest to monitor temps. I get stutters, skips, whatever you want to call it about every 5 seconds (which I'm assuming is the sensor update rate). If I disable sensor reading or exit Everest, the problem stops.

Everest Ultimate is version 4.00.976

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit with all updates

Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe P965 chipset
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2GB Corsair XMS6400
Video: ATI X1950XTX
Sound: Creative X-Fi
HDs: 3 SATA drives, non-raid

Please help, as it's pretty frustrating having paid for the program and always having to work around the problem.

Thanks

Gary

I have the same problem (even with the latest 4.00 beta) that every 5-20 seconds there is some kind of (short) crackling when playing a mp3 with winamp. This only happens when Everest is loaded; other "low-level" software like speedfan does not cause any problems with the sound quality.

The only solution for me is to DISABLE "low-level PCI bus operation" that you can find under "file" -> "preferences" -> "stability".

btw: I have a Gigabyte DS4 Board (Intel 965) and a X-FI soundcard under Windows Vista.

Please upgrade to the latest beta version of EVEREST Ultimate Edition available at:

http://www.lavalys.c...ax2wylpjm8c.zip

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks,

Fiery, I am running the latest 1108 beta and I get intermittent stuttering of both video and audio simultaneously. It's been freaking me out, and only today did I start to realize that the only time it seems to happen is when running Everest. I even went so far as to buy another PSU thinking it was a power issue. Now that I see others are experiencing the same problems as I am, I both feel better because I can likely say that my hardware is fine, and frustrated, because I love Everest and bought it specifically for the latest beta which has 680i MCP temp monitoring. What I am curious about, how many of you experiencing this problem have simultaneous video and audio "hiccupping?" It seems most of you just mentioned audio stuttering. What happens with me is that both the audio and video "hiccup" for a fraction of a second. I will try disabling low-level PCI bus enumeration and see if that takes care of the issue for now, but I would like to see a permanent fix that doesn't sacrifice any of the functionality of this great program!

My specs for reference are:
Core 2 Quad Q6600
2GB DDR2-667
EVGA 680i SLI A1 board
3x Hitachi 80GB SATA-2 in RAID-0
1x WD 250GB SATA
1x Seagate External SATA
1x Plextor SATA DVDRW
SB Audigy 2
EVGA 7900GTO

Also try to disable sensor and SMART features (EVEREST / main menu / File / Preferences / Stability).

And make sure to use the latest beta version of EVEREST Ultimate Edition available at:

http://www.lavalys.c...fohi4rwgj1e.zip

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know if you find out what do you need to disable to make the "hiccups" gone. Please try to remove hard disk drives if possible (like disconnect the eSATA drive), and let us know if it helps.

If it's possible, remove your Audigy 2 sound card and revert back to on-board audio, maybe the Audigy causes the "hiccups".

BTW, I think this bug is now limited to nVIDIA chipsets or Audigy/X-Fi sound cards.

We've done some test runs with a nForce 570 SLI chipset based motherboard and a Creative SB Audigy4 card, but we cannot reproduce the "hiccups" here sad.gif

Please let us know more details about your configuration:

1) Do you have the onboard audio enabled or disabled?

2) What version of Audigy2 driver are you using?

3) Are you running XP or Vista? 32-bit or 64-bit kernel?

4) Have you ever seen such "hiccups" (either audio or video) when running other tools like RivaTuner, SpeedFan or Active SMART?

Thanks,
Fiery

I've disabled the sensor and smart options per your request, and I am testing now. The problem is, I can't live with that as a permanent solution, since that disables the functionality that was the primary impetus for me purchasing Everest in the first place, the MCP temp sensor information.

I am running Vista Ultimate x86
Onboard audio is disabled.
Audigy 2 driver version is: 6.0.1.1302, Dated 5/10/2007

Also, what changes have you made from build 1108 to build 1134? Since I got 1134 only my video has been doing the flicking and my audio seems to be okay while running iTunes. Any idea why that is now?

Thanks for the details. I only asked you to alter the Stability settings for testing purposes wink.gif

As for the video flickering, I'm not quite sure what change affected the audio. However, I'm glad if it is now the video only, since that may be easier to hunt down. But is the audio flickering gone even when having the default Stability settings?

Can you tell me the approx. frequency of the video flickering? Once per 3 seconds? Once per 30 seconds?

The video and audio would flicker seemingly at random. It was definitely not as frequent as every 30 seconds. It was more like every 3 minutes or so. Also, I will turn the stability back on for a bit and test longer while playing music to make sure it is not flicking. Also, I am not sure if having more IE tabs open causes it to happen more frequently or not, so I will try to load up more tabs and apps while I am working and see if that does anything. Is 1134 the latest beta?

Yes, 1134 is the latest one.

As for the video flickering, how can one imagine that? Like the screen gets distorted for a fraction of a second? Or it goes completely off (gets black) for a fraction of a second? Or maybe for longer, like half a second?

Fiery, when watching a movie (via maedia player, vlc, media player classic, etc) the frame will stop for a brief moment, I think that is what the person is trying to convey. Its like someone presses the pause button for a brief second, then the video continues on playing.

I noticed it myself along time ago. It even affects video game play as well.
So because of those, I always have the option off to prevent games/movies/music from skipping.

Maybe the latest EVEREST Ultimate Edition beta version fixes the sound stuttering issues:

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know how it works.
