I have three temperature readings, all below freezing, being listed on my sensors page. Obviously they're not accurate but I figured I might ask around here and see if anyone knows what devices they are reading and why it might be coming up as such...

Also, coincidentally... the reason I purchased the software was because SpeedFan was reporting a sensor at 97© which I had assumed was my northbridge (stock speeds/voltages) because it's burning hot to the touch. After installing EVEREST and seeing that there was no sensor reporting anything near that hot I felt a little less worried about the whole situation - until I pulled out my IR Temperature Gauge and saw it was reading 202(F) on the Northbridge's stock heatsink...AGAIN_ stock voltages / stock speeds. ::cries::

So, apparently we have two very related issues...

1. What are my "Temperature #1","Temperature #2", and "Temperature #3" sensors reading?
2. Where is the 97© sensor that SpeedFan can report that EVEREST Ultimate cannot?

1) Temperature #1, #2 and #3 are the OPT1, OPT2 and OPT3 sensors of your motherboard.

2) MCP temperature measurement is an unofficial feature of MCP55P and MCP55PXE south bridges. nVIDIA reckons it shouldn't be used, that's why we only enabled MCP temperature measurement on nVIDIA 680i SLI, 680i LT SLI and 780i SLI reference motherboards. But since it seems on your board the measured value makes sense, we've enabled it for Asus P5N32-E and Striker boards as well.

Please upgrade to the latest beta version of EVEREST Ultimate Edition available at:

http://www.lavalys.c...oks4hdnk0fc.zip

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know how it works.

Thanks,
Fiery

1.) I fired it up and it now displays the Southbridge (MCP) Sensor at 50C - but I upgraded the stock chipset heatsinks and mosfet coolers on the board last night so I need to get my IR temperature gauge out this weekend or get my hands on a decent wire sensor and map it for a while to see how accurate it is... But it is up there and displaying a value...

2.) Randomly, is the location of the "Motherboard" sensor in the IT8718F chip directly?

Yes, it is.

Thanks for the feedback!

I had thought as much... I had a permanent sensor attached to my northbridge (C55XE) so I could monitor *its* temperatures...

I'll update this thread again in several days after I've had the opportunity to record some temperatures of the new sensor (MCP) readings and compare them against an external sensor. Obviously I'm going to have an offset to account for from the chip's internal sensor and the external sensor on the heatsink...

UPDATE: The new MCP Sensor data is not available to the Windows Sidebar Gadget. (minor issue, but worth dev-tracking)

Are you sure? Try to scroll down to the bottom of the list of Sidebar items in main menu / File / Preferences / Hardware Monitoring / Vista Sidebar / Sidebar Items.

I'm sorry, your correct, I had thought they were automatically organized by "Type" and hadn't noticed the "move-up" / "move-down" buttons at all, lol...

Initially, they're ordered by type, but since MCP is a new entry in your case (which is a special case wink.gif ), then it got to the bottom of the list. You can move it up if you want of course, reordering is possible.
