I just downloaded the datasheet of my Super I/O Controller: Winbond W83667HG and want to know how some Hardware Monitor Registers are set.

The ISA Sensor Dump gives me this information: (cut out the unnecessary information)
CODE

Bnk6  7F 7F 7F 7F  7F 7F 00 00  08 16 00 00  00 00 00 00

For example, i am interested in this information:

  • SYSFANOUT PWM Output Frequency Configuration Register - Index 00h (Bank 0)
  • FAN Configuration Register I - Index 04h (Bank 0)
  • CPUTIN Temperature Sensor Temperature (High Byte) Register - Index 50h (Bank 1)
  • SYSFANIN SPEED HIGH-BYTE VALUE (RPM) - Index 56h (Bank 6)

I think i know how to get the 1st information: Bank0 Index 00h: its the first bit of the upper code (04)

But i dont know how to get the last 2 infos, cause i have no clue what these Banks mean

Could somebody please explain this, i would be deeply grateful

Reg. 4Eh selects the bank. Only registers 50h .. 5Fh are banked, so the bank switching only affects those registers. In the EVEREST ISA Sensor Dump "Bnk0" means Bank#0, and the 16 registers next to that (same line) are register values for reg. index 50h .. 5Fh.

BTW, where did you find the datasheet for W83667HG? Can you send the file to me at:

uusi AT freemail.hu (replace AT with @)

Thanks,
Fiery

thanks for the reply, i have sent you the datasheet.

But from the Figure 8-1 LPC Bus’ Reads from / Write to Internal Registers on Page 36 it semms that registers 50h .. 6Fh are banked, at least on Bank 0

and later it says:
QUOTE
Indexes from 000h to 04Fh are “global” or accessible from all banks,
while indexes 050h to 0FFh are specific to each bank.

so 50h to FFh are banked

but indexes in >5Fh arent used exept in bank0, so it doesnt matter

Thanks, got it!

As for banking, I'm not sure who's right or wrong. All preceding Winbond Super I/O chips have only 50h .. 5Fh banked. Maybe W83667HG revamped this...

Fiery, Hofman, could you please send me a copy of that datasheet? (to tavycx AT gmail.com)

I wrote a program to read the sensors on my Solaris server based on the W83627EHF datasheet,
but the motherboard has a W83667HG (ASUS P5Q-PRO); the temperatures are incorrect and the voltages are a bit off.

Thanks
